Materials to net: something sturdy, with a tight twist, that won’t stretch or break easily
If this is your first netting project, I would suggest:
For the bags – string, worsted weight cotton yarn, or cord. I have used both Peaches & Creme (found at Wal-Mart ) and Lily’s Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn, as well as string from a hardware store.
For the headbands – 1/8″ ribbon (smooth) or size 3 crochet thread.
Mesh Sticks or Netting Gauges: 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, and either 1-1/4″ or 1-1/2″
Netting Shuttle: narrow width of 1/2″ or less – (optional: 8″ x 1″)
Jann’s Netcraft has a shuttle that is 12″ long by 1/2″ wide.
Tension Device
Foundation Loop Cord: 12″ piece of size 10 crochet cotton or string
General Tools: scissors, tape measure or ruler, and blunt end tapestry needle
If you need help finding where to purchase your supplies, check the PDF handout Equipment Sources. It is located at the bottom of Equipment Used in Netting.
